Dloplop - Japan's meteorological agency has issued an emergency warning in southern prefectures about typhoon Nan Madol. They say there is an increased risk of large-scale disasters.
The typhoon made landfall in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima on Sunday evening. The Meteorological Agency has issued an emergency warning of heavy rain in Miyazaki Prefecture. It also issues emergency alerts for strong winds, high waves and storm surges in the Prefecture.
The wind blew past the arm of a construction crane in Kagoshima City, with wind speeds reaching 155 kilometers per hour. It had rained over a large area.
More than 800 millimeters of rain has fallen on the city of Misato in Miyazaki Prefecture since Saturday. That's more than average for the whole month of September.
The agency warned people to be on the lookout for overflowing rivers, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
